Idaho Springs and the Clear Creek County area offer many possibilities for exploring the history of the area, recreational opportunities and other activities.

The Idaho Springs City Hall (shown at right) is the old Grass Valley School House. In 1984 the school was due to be destroyed. The City of Idaho Springs bought the building and had the school house moved to its current location. The building now holds City Hall, the Idaho Springs Police Department and the Idaho Springs Municipal Court.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON APPLICATION UNDER CHAPTER 25: AREAS AND ACTIVITIES OF STATE INTEREST OF THE IDAHO SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE-Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held on June 11, 2012 regarding an application from the Colorado Department of Transportation for construction work regulated under provisions of Chapter 25: Areas and Activities of State Interest, of the Idaho Springs Municipal Code. This public hearing will determine whether or not a "1041 Permit" pursuant to Chapter 25 of the Idaho Springs Municipal Code may be issued for this project. Applicant: Colorado Department of Transportation; Janet Gerak, Environmental Project Manager.  Proposal: To improve roadway pavement and widths of Clear Creek County Rd. 314 in order to increase connectivity and enhance safety that will serve as a safe alternative to travel on I-70 for local traffic, and to add bicycle, pedestrian and recreation access. The proposal is divided into two (2) phases of which one phase is planned for construction at this time. The Public Hearing will address both phase 1 where construction documents and funding are complete; and phase 2 where design and construction documents are at a 30% completion level.
