Mayor and Council

City Hall

The City of Idaho Springs has a Mayor/Council form of government. The City is split into two wards, generally at 17th Avenue in the middle of the City. At each regular municipal election (every two years) three council members are elected to serve four-year terms. Every four years, a Mayor is also elected at-large to serve a four-year term.  You can view the ward map here.

To qualify as a candidate for Mayor or for City Council, you must be a registered elector and have lived in the Ward of the seat being sought for at least 1 year prior to the election. For more information about the election process, please contact the City Clerk at (303) 567-4421.

City Council meetings are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:00pm. Work sessions are generally scheduled prior to the regular meeting and start times for work sessions can range from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Agendas for City Council meetings and work sessions are posted at the front door of City Hall, 1711 Miner Street, Idaho Springs, and can be downloaded at this link.

Any person wishing to address the City Council at a meeting should fill out a Request for Public comment Form. The comment request form must be received by the cityclerk [at] idahospringsco.com (Deputy City Clerk) no later than 6:00 pm the Wednesday before the meeting.  Any related written material must be received by 6:00 pm the Wednesday before the meeting to be included in the meeting packet. It is possible to provide "unscheduled public comment" at regular City Council Meetings if the deadline for scheduled public comment is missed. Please call the City Clerk for more information.
